P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center is pleased to announce Warm Up 2005, the critically acclaimed music series that has become one of New York’s most exciting and anticipated summer events. The series, which will be staged in a stunningly futuristic architectural installation, provides a unique multi-sensory experience for music fans, artists, and families alike. Attendees can dance in the courtyard, sit under the canopied shade of the installation Sur by Xefirotarch, and view P.S.1’s current exhibition Greater New York 2005.
Warm Up 2005, sponsored NOKIA and Target, begins on July 2 and closes on September 3. This year’s lineup opens with DJ Harvey, who’s known for his signature mix of eclectic disco, New York City acid jazz ensemble Groove Collective adds to the spontaneous vibe, and Simon James of the LA’s Projections also DJs. Other highlights from the series include a range of musical genres and talent: Juan Atkins, Josh Wink, Stacey Pullen, Lovebug Starski, MU, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, Gus Gus, Monolake, and Norman Jay M.B.E.
"We've brought together an illustrious group of originators from the old school, the under known, and innovators of the present and future for the 2005 Warm Up lineup," said Jason Drummond, Warm Up Summer Music Series Coordinator.
Past Warm Up live performances and DJ sets have included renowned international acts, including Afrika Bambaataa, Mad Professor, Richie Hawtin, Danny Krivit, Trevor Jackson, François K, DJ Craze, Charlie Dark, Vikter Duplaix, Fischerspooner, Frederic Galliano, Kid Koala, Arto Lindsay, Scissor Sisters, Ursula Rucker, Derrick May, Swayzak, Luke Vibert, XPress 2, Danny Wang, and many more.
The music series, originally conceived in 1997 as a summer-long dance party to attract crowds to Long Island City, Queens and the P.S.1 galleries, now draws thousands of locals and visitors every Saturday for a merging of exciting music, contemporary art, and fascinating peoplewatching.The organizers, Jason Drummond and Director of Music Lokke Highstein pride themselves on a “curated” mix of musical acts and DJs.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Warm Up P.S.1 has partnered with Coverage 3D, a collaborative project of photo-journalists, 3D artists, and interactive designers, to create a 3-dimensional, interactive tour of the P.S.1 spaces, exhibitions, and events during Warm Up. The result features video interviews and performances, slideshows, and many surprises.
