For the fourth consecutive summer, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center presents Warm Up 2001, the critically acclaimed and highly popular DJ series. P.S.1’s Warm Up summer festival has established a vital multidisciplinary forum where audiences can interact with new trends in the arts. P.S.1’s Warm Up 2001 showcases a new and inventive series of national and international music performances, art installations and dance, coupled with an innovative architectural installation presented in P.S.1’s outdoor courtyard and galleries. Opening Saturday, July 7th, Warm Up 2001 will be held for 9 weeks, each Saturday afternoon through September 1, from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Warm Up 2001, curated by Jonathan Rudnick of Giant Step, kicks off on July 7th with the Nortec Collective featuring Fussible, Plankton Man and Terrestre, as well as Los Amigos Invisibles, a dance band from Venezuela. Breakbeat Science celebrates their fifth anniversary on July 21st with DB, Dara, and special guests. Onthecorner.FM, Charlie Dark from Attica Blues, Gamall, Studio K7 featuring Herbert, Ursula Rucker and many others will also perform later this summer.
Over the past three years, crowds flocked to the frenzied, cutting-edge sounds of local and international DJs and live musicians. Warm Up has hosted live performances by artists such as: Neil Aline, Antibalas, Anti Pop Consortium, Thomas Brinkmann, Fischerspooner, Frederic Galliano, Giant Step, Liminal, Arto Lindsay, Francisco Lopez, Miho of Cibo Matto, Ming & FS, Organic Grooves, Karl Hancock Rux, Jimi Tenor, DJ Spooky, DJ Swamp, Swayzak, Luke Vibert, Stuart Walker and many more.
In addition to the music in the outdoor galleries, P.S.1 presents Summer Dance Warm Up, a rejuvenation of a program that flourished in the '70s and early '80s. In P.S.1’s former gymnasium, thirty emerging dancers and choreographers will perform on Saturday afternoons throughout the summer.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Warm Up P.S.1 has partnered with Coverage 3D, a collaborative project of photo-journalists, 3D artists, and interactive designers, to create a 3-dimensional, interactive tour of the P.S.1 spaces, exhibitions, and events during Warm Up. The result features video interviews and performances, slideshows, and many surprises.
