Open for the first summer in its 22-year history, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center expands its programming with Warm Up, an exciting performance series featuring some of the hippest DJs from New York and abroad. The series kicks off July 5 and continues each Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. through August 29, 1998.
Warm Up will combine DJs from the famed Paris night club, Respect, with a host of others from France, Germany, Austria, and New York. The performances will take place in a very non-traditional club environment: P.S.1’s outdoor galleries, which the Vienna-based artist group Gelatin has transformed into a place to swim, climb, cool down. . . and warm up.
Established DJs will perform alongside lesser-known DJs, providing an opportunity for established DJs to perform in ways that might not be possible in conventional clubs and providing lesser-known DJs with the exposure they deserve. The eclectic line-up will range from hip-hop to electronica to lounge/easy listening to punk-inflected bluegrass.
