Judith Hoffman
I'm currently working on a series of Day Paintings, the images based on photos from the local newspaper. Starting January 1, I will make a Day Painting five days a week for all of 2010, posting the week's paintings and sometimes, my response to the article or image, on my website at http://www.judithhoffman.com
Judith Hoffman graduated in 1999 from Smith College in Massachusetts with a degree in Mathematics. A year later, after making art steadily and avoiding numbers like the plague, she moved to Chicago to attend the School of the Art Institute. She received her MFA in 2008 from Pratt Institute. She has also co-founded three art collectives, Luxury Goods, with Jimmy McBride and Marc LeBlanc, Tooth and Comb Social Club with Heather Hart and Mystic Order with Yashua Klos from 2006 to present. In 2009, Hoffman began and currently moderates a women's art critique group called “Ladies Heart Art”. She was initially interested to see if a dialogue about the challenges of making and showing art changed in a single sex environment. The group of 24 meets once a month for studio visits, dinner and to support one another professionally. Hoffman’s work can be currently seen at “Art in General”, “Heathers” and in March at the “Barbara Walters Gallery”.
